It could be said that we grew up with Soma Hamudhuruwo as a mentor. Since our early years, he has helped to guide us in both our personal and academic lives. He always posed us pertinent philosophical questions, which we rarely knew how to answer. However, he would always help us to understand the question as well as the answer, finally encouraging us to make our own decisions based on the facts. He also brought humour into our discussions when he felt it would aid in our understanding. He encouraged us to remember that death is a part of life and not to fear it, saying that the greatest favour you can do for yourself is to live your life with no regrets. We have gratefully learnt much from him.
