Pupils of the Sunday Sinhala and Dhamma school which is conducted at the Buddhist Vihara Victoria, Noble Park proudly presented the annual variety entertainment on the 5th of December 1999, which was held at the Dandenong High School Hall.
These talented youngsters showed their versatility by presenting a variety of items which included traditional dances, songs, instrumental recitals and drama.
The young performers were trained and directed by the teaching staff of the Language school lead by Devika Rupasinghe and ably supported by the Parents' Association.
The performance was made before a large and highly appreciative audience who congratulated the students on their polished performance.
It was a memorable event and will be remembered by both the performers and the audience as an unforgettable evening.
The Katthina or Sacred Robe ceremony of the Vihara was held this year on the 30th of October 1999 at the Noble Park Language School.
This year the responsibilities of the Katthina ceremony were undertaken by Sunimal Fernando and his wife Irangani Vitharana and family assisted, as usual, by all the devotees who attend the Vihara.
Twenty five monks attended the ceremony this year. The Katthina robe was presented to Ven. Wimalananda Thero the Incumbent monk at the Vihara.
The Annual prize giving ceremony and concert of Sri Lankan students of the Dahampasala and Sinhala language school of the Buddhist Vihara Victoria Noble Park was ceremonially held on the 6th of December 1998 at Dandenong High School. The Annual Kattina ceremony of the Buddhist Vihara Victoria was held for the fifth year, on the 10th of October 1998. This year too the ceramony was held at the hall in the Noble Park English Language school on Thomas Road, Noble Park. Go here to see the photos.
